The role that clouds play as our planet continues to heat up is not well constrained. As we learn more about their behaviour, however, it looks increasingly as if the news is not good

On average, clouds cover around two-thirds of our world at any one time, and more than this over the oceans, so it would not be a surprise to hear that they play a major role in regulating the temperature of the planet and influencing its heat balance (energy in versus energy out).
