Capitalism is failing the planet and most of the people living thereon. We will never tackle the climate emergency until it is replaced with a saner and kinder way of living.
What a relief to read your words, Bill and find out I'm not alone in thinking this way and being creative enough to image a way out of this madness and a better world.
The western world who is largely responsible for this mess are being lead by politicians who are knowingly taking us towards collapse rather than face telling the people who vote for them the truth that the future is bleak unless we reduce consumption of energy and raw materials and accept a lower standard of living. They probably realise this would be a thankless task so continue to promote the existing model of perpetual economic growth and enjoy what time there is left.
I hope this is the way it goes in the end, but after reading The End of the Megamachine by Fabian Scheidler, I feel that the whole system needs to implode before it can change. Capitalism, the military complex and state are all intertwined.
